Remarks

Welcome to your new home!

When you live in a home "of a certain age," you live surrounded by the warmth and love of the people who came before. The Woods-Eller house was build in 1920 by Mr. W.G. Wood, a German immigrant who was also a carpenter. Recently a widower, Mr. Wood designed this distinctive Gambrel Roof Styled home for himself and his many sons (possibly 13 sons!). Together they built this home out of black locust trees and stone found on the property. They situated the home on their parcel of land to catch the morning sun in front and utilize maximum garden space in the back. The Woods family enjoyed this home, raising their families for the next 2 to 4 decades.  After the Woods family, the home enjoyed the love of newlyweds starting a new family, a Korean War Veteran, and eventually, the socially well-known Eller family enjoyed the home. The Woods-Eller House has benefited from the love of a few additional families and tenants since the Eller family moved on, and each has left its mark on this charming, historic home.

Now it is your turn to add your love to the tapestry that makes this home feel so inviting. Carefully updated in the last few months, you can move in and start making memories of your own. The Kitchen and Bathroom are fully renovated with new flooring, new tile, new cabinetry and fixtures, and new stainless steel appliances. The original hardwood floors have been sanded and refinished with fresh paint throughout the home. The heating and cooling system is updated with a new efficient heat pump, zoned between floors. The water lines and much of the plumbing and electrical are updated and brought up to code. A laundry closet and a sun porch were added to the main floor with a potter's shed down below. There isn't much of anything left for you to do except move in and enjoy!

The Woods-Eller House is well situated in downtown Weaverville, only 10 minutes north of Asheville, NC.  Weaverville is a bustling small town with walkable neighborhoods, artisan shops, craft beer breweries, and several eclectic restaurants. Art walks, music events, and candlelight strolls are enjoyed throughout the year. A new community center offering classes and a farmers market is nearing completion. Weaverville and the surrounding mountains provide a lifestyle for you to enjoy and thrive.

Welcome to your new home. It's been waiting for you!

About Susan

My husband and I have made our home in the peaceful mountains of Western North Carolina since 1992 where we worked together in the running of our home remodeling business. Together we have built 4 homes and renovated another as well as renovated countless homes for clients. I have always taken an active part in the design and building of these homes. From hanging ridge rafters to laying hardwood floors, I have gained a great deal of respect and understanding of what goes into a well-built home. This love of homes and home construction is what led me to become a Real Estate Broker in 2003 and later a General Contractor. I am also active in canine sports, competing with my golden retrievers and organizing obedience trials as well as serving time on the board (past treasurer) of the Sandlapper Golden Retriever Club.  In addition, I am a stained glass artist and I take much pride and satisfaction in designing and creating glass art that I often donated to benefit rescues and canine health research.

Since starting my Real Estate Career long ago, I have won many sales awards and more importantly to me, several Quality Service Awards. For several years I was Broker in Charge of a small office, managing 9 other agents. Feeling the need to get back to what I love about real estate, I stepped down as the managing broker in 2017 so I could concentrate on
my clients and their needs as a Broker Associate. I am now working with Sterling Real Estate Partners because of their creativity, marketing technology, customer service and their stellar reputation in the Asheville and surrounding markets.

I specialize in Residential Homes, Small Farms and Land Tracks with a special passion for Vintage Homes. When marketing a Vintage home, or helping a buyer with a purchase of one, you can expect a full essay on the "genealogy" of your home. One of my many obsessions is tracking the history of Asheville's older homes. My years working as a carpenters assistant as well as my beginnings in the marketing field will be used to your benefit when you are selling or buying a home. Of course for dog owners, my 20+ years of training and competing with my own dogs has given me an understanding that often a fenced yard for Puppy is not enough. Sometimes we need a bit more. For both sellers and buyers I recognize the unique needs that many of us
have for ourselves and with our homes.
